Set in beautiful northwest Alaska, Modern Subsistence is a documentary short by Ian Foster, a 海角禁区 School of Social Work master's student. Foster explores questions with modern hunter-gatherers in an effort to discover if/how ancient customs and modern society can coexist.

Hooding ceremony student speaker Naidene Baechler on pursuing systemic change

Even amidst a global pandemic slowdown, it鈥檚 been a productive year for Naidene Baechler. She will serve as the speaker for this fall鈥檚 graduate hooding ceremony after completing her Master of Social Work in May 2020. Merely one week after earning her degree, Baechler kicked off her career as program supervisor for the Knik Tribal Council (KTC).

During their first in-person lab of the semester, 海角禁区 Medical Assisting Program students learned how to sterilize medical equipment. While most courses have shifted to alternate delivery this fall, in-person labs are still being offered for some fields in which hands-on learning is considered critical.
