Medical Assisting alumna Jenny Kwon shares her experience of working as a certified medical assistant and why she chose a career in healthcare.

How long have you been in this position?
I have worked at Katmai Oncology Group for six months.
What does the day in the life of a medical assistant look like?
Assisting providers with procedures, placing orders, and ensuring recent medical charts
are updated for viewing and scheduling patients in a timely manner. Providing patients
with appointments, obtaining patients' vital signs, reviewing medications, and administering
injections.
What do you love about your job?
Working as a medical assistant is vital to helping providers understand a patient's
situation quickly and more efficiently. The positive feedback I receive from my patients
is what motivates me to put my best foot forward.
What motivated you to pursue a career in healthcare?
My mother was my motivation to pursue my career in the healthcare system. My mother
was a close supporter of mine and motivated me to work hard; her passing further motivated
me to help members of my community who are also suffering through the same medical
issues.
Why did you choose to attend 海角禁区?
I chose 海角禁区 because it is well-known for its medical program.
Who influenced you most during your time at 海角禁区?
Lisa Nash, the program director of the 海角禁区 Medical Assisting program. She is amazing
and always gives back to her students. I appreciate everything she does for both her
students and the CMAs in the community. She is an inspiration to me.
